Your Obligation as an "AIKIDO" Student.
- Pay your dues on time to support the DOJO.
- Come in early to clean up and prepare the DOJO hall for practice.
- Sit down, meditate and warm up before the formal class.
- Observe "REIGI SAHO" or respect and proper behavior.
- Shut up and practice.
- For safety reason do not resist the techniques. You will be given an
opportunity to learn proper "technique reversals" during advanced practice.
- Unless your senior classmate solicits corrections, you should not correct anybody more senior than you.
- Cleanup after the class.
- Practice regularly and Enjoy your practice.
- Bring in your own practice weapons. Extra dojo owned practice weapons are limited.
Your obligation as senior "AIKIDO" student
- Make sure all junior students know the proper behavior and
"REIGI".
- Make sure all junior students observe the proper "REIGI" and what is expected from them.
- Most senior student in attendance should lead and delegate the effort for
cleaning up the "DOJO". Observe the proper "SOUIJI".
- In SENSEI's absence the most senior should assume the role of "SENSEI
DAIRI" and bow down the class, he should yield the class to the most senior upon
arrival unless otherwise directed.
- Senior students at all time should be a model to junior students in technical
skills character and conduct.
These are some behaviors that are not tolerated.
For extreme violation,
the "dojo cho" reserves the right to ask you to leave.
- Practicing while intoxicated.
- Habitual disregard for safety.
- Disrespect and not observing traditional "REIGI".
- Any act that violates the seven virtues of "BUDO".
- Horse play.
- Any act that can divide the dojo.
Observe the following Basic external expression of "REIGI"
- Bow down towards the shomen when entering or leaving the practice hall.
- Address your instructors as "SENSEI" during class session.
- Address your senior as "SEMPAI" during practice .
- Kneel and bow down and say "OSU" or "ONEIGASHIMASU" to your practice partner before starting to practice together.
- Bow down and say "DOMO" or "DOMO ARIGATO" or "ARIGATO" after practicing with your partner.
- Learn and practice the formal opening and closing bow to the "SHOMEN".
- If you come in late, you should stay out of the mat. Warm up then kneel and bow down to the instructor on the corner of the mat
wait until he ask you to join.
- Know your proper place.
- All students must pause practice to bow for any ranking teacher who enters the practice hall. Say
"Konichiwa" "Konbawa" or "OHIO GOZAIMASU" as the case maybe.
Any guest's who enters the hall should be greeted the same way except if the class is in session.
